Is ZenChores free?
Yes — you can sign up and run your chore group on ZenChores for free.
How does ZenChores decide what's most urgent?
You tell us two things per chore: how often you'd like it done, and when it was last done. The longer it's been since last time, the higher it climbs the queue. Tap done and it drops back.
Will it remind us?
On Premium, yes. You can opt in to a daily push notification for any chore group member at a time of day that suits — a quiet nudge with what's at the top of their queue. Other adults logged in to your chore group can set up their own reminders too.
Do I need to install an app?
Use it in any browser today. Native iOS and Android apps are coming soon if you'd rather have an icon on your home screen.
How is this different from a to-do list or a calendar?
To-do apps are opinionated about how you organize your chores. Calendars are opinionated about when you do them. ZenChores stays out of the way — you just tell us how often each chore should happen, and we sort the queue by how overdue each one is against your own target. Skip a week, double up on a Saturday — the queue re-sorts itself.
What if the same chore should rotate between people?
Add the chore once per person whose turn it is. Each person's queue surfaces it when it's most overdue for them, so rotations sort themselves out without a schedule.
Does everyone in the house need their own login?
No. One adult can run the whole chore group from a single account and assign chores to every member. Other adults can log in too if they want their own reminders or to mark things done from their own device.
What if we go on holiday or skip a week?
Nothing breaks. ZenChores doesn't punish you for missing a day — chores just sit further up the queue when you get back, so the most-overdue stuff is still on top.
Can I see what's been done recently?
Yes — every chore shows when it was last marked done, so you can tell at a glance whether something is genuinely overdue or someone just hasn't tapped done yet.
Will my data stay private?
Yes. No ads, no selling data, no sharing your chore group with third parties. Your chores are between you and the people you've added to your chore group.
